“Being more active is one of the most important things we can do for our health, but we know choosing to work out can often be a challenge whether you’re very active or just getting started,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies. “We’re excited for Apple Fitness+ to bring together the metrics from Apple Watch, great music, and a diverse and inspiring trainer team — in a uniquely simple, easy-to-access way across Apple devices — to encourage our users to get fit and stay healthy,” he added.
In order to empower users, Apple Fitness+ dynamically incorporates personal metrics from Apple Watch to animate them on the screen at key exercise moments, offering an interactive and immersive experience to help users remain motivated. HIIT, Treadmill, Cycling, and Rowing workouts have an optional Burn Bar for those who enjoy a bit of competition that demonstrates, in real-time, how the effort of a user matches up against someone who has previously done the same workout.

With an intuitive filter system that allows users to choose their trainer, time, exercise, and music to get to their next workout in seconds, Apple Fitness+ makes getting started with a great workout fast and easy. There is also a smart recommendation engine that takes into account previously completed workouts in Fitness +, the Apple Watch Exercise app, and favorite fitness apps from third parties that interact with the Health app.
Fitness+ suggests exercises that fit what the user already wants to do so that they can jump right in with something familiar, suggest that they try something different, help them explore a new trainer, or suggest a workout to complement their current routine.
Apple Fitness+ also features new content every week with a range of trainers, times, and music for all exercise styles. Several members of the trainer team lead Absolute Beginner workouts that teach the fundamentals of HIIT, Strength, Heart, and Yoga as an alternative to preparing for the weekly studio workouts for those who are just starting out, trying something different, or getting back into exercising. Workouts for Rowing, Cycling, and Treadmill also contain Getting Started videos that explain how to set up the equipment and implement the correct method and technique.
With Activity Sharing, users will allow friends and family to see Fitness+ workouts completed, and workouts can also be shared with their favorite social media channels.
