Apple release new software iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6 update for iPhone and iPad. In these, introducing new Audio Stories features for Apple News and Apple News+.
The iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6 update are available for iPhone 6s or later, iPad Air 2 or later, iPad mini 4 or later, and iPod touch 7th generation.
Apple introduces new features in Apple News and Apple News+ subscription, including audio stories version from Apple News, a daily audio news briefing hosted by Apple News editors. And new curated local news collections launching in five major cities and regions and also expanding to more areas in the future.
Apple News plans to produce about 20 audio stories per week across the wide range of interests, these stories will be narrated by professional voice actors. Apple has been expecting this audio version of published by Esquire, Essence, Fast Company, GQ, New York magazine, Sports Illustrated, TIME, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Wired, and more, and newspapers including the Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal. Apple audio stories feature limited to Apple News+ in the US. But users can access daily audio news briefing via Apple News which is free for all users.
Apple News today will highlight some of the most fascinating stories in the news. Apple News Today is free to all listeners and available mornings Monday through Friday directly in the News app in the US and on Apple Podcasts. The Apple audio stories and Apple News today have been added to the new Audio tab which is located at the bottom of the Apple News app. Users can also manage their personalized recommendations.

Apple News also added top local and regional news outlets for readers and subscribers, including The Charlotte Observer, the Miami Herald, and The News & Observer from Raleigh, North Carolina. And the new curated local news experience currently available in the Bay Area, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, featuring the top content from the best collection of local publishers, including major newspapers in each city and region.
The Local News of the collection in Apple News includes coverage of topics from most important to local communities, sports, dining and restaurants, weather, news and politics, and more, this can be personalized by each user.
Apple also support News app in CarPlay, so users can listen to audio stories and Apple News today while driving. Users will be able to sync their listening progress across devices, such as start listening to an audio story with CaPlay from your iPhone and pick up listening to or reading it later at home.
