“This is a major iPhone leap, bringing the best 5G experience on the market and offering our most sophisticated technology to consumers who want the most out of their iPhone,” said Greg Joswiak, Worldwide Marketing Senior Vice President of Apple.
“Every generation of iPhone has changed what we expect from a smartphone, and now the iPhone 12 Pro offers a new generation of success with 5G. Our close hardware and software integration enables amazing computational photography features, such as the expansion of Night mode to more sensors, and with Dolby Vision, support for HDR video. A state-of-the-art LiDAR Scanner ensures that users can experience AR like never before and also provides advantages to the low-light camera with faster autofocus and the introduction of portraits in night mode. Such encounters and so much more make it the best lineup of iPhones ever,” he added.

With the seamless integration of world-class hardware and world-class apps, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max offer an integrated 5G experience on a global scale. 5G on the iPhone has increased speeds for quicker downloads and uploads, video streaming of higher quality, more responsive gaming, game interactivity in real-time, high definition FaceTime, and much more. Customers will also be able to enjoy a secure, easy connection, reducing the need for public Wi-Fi hotspots to be linked.
The iPhone 12 Pro models offer the best 5G coverage worldwide, with the most 5G bands on any smartphone. The higher frequency variant of 5G, US models support millimeter wave, allowing iPhone 12 Pro models to achieve speeds up to 4Gbps, even in densely populated areas. Smart Data mode is also included in iPhone 12 Pro models, which extends battery life by smartly evaluating 5G needs and managing data consumption, speed, and power in real-time.

The A14 Bionic is the first 5-nanometer processor in the smartphone industry, decades ahead of the competition. Compared to the fastest rival smartphone processors, A14 Bionic has the fastest CPU and GPU by up to 50 percent, allowing console-quality gaming experiences, powerful machine imaging, and more, while offering better battery life, faster and more effective than ever.
Apple A14 Bionic features a 16-core Neural Engine capable of performing 11 trillion operations per second, allowing better performance on even the most extreme ML models, for an 80 percent improvement in performance.

Crafted with premium materials, iPhone 12 Pro models feature a new, elegant flat-edge design that features a stunning stainless steel band of surgical grade combined with a matte glass back that is precision-milled and introduces the extremely robust Ceramic Shield. Tougher than any smartphone glass, the Ceramic Shield front cover goes beyond the glass and is infused with Nano-ceramic crystals to significantly boost durability and improve drop output by 4x.
The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max features a Super Retina XDR monitor with systemwide color control for industry-leading color accuracy, and impressively bigger, edge-to-edge displays and reduced borders in familiar sizes.
For a remarkable, true-to-life viewing experience, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has the biggest display ever on an iPhone and the highest resolution with almost 3.5 million pixels. These OLED displays add life to HDR video material, hitting a peak brightness of 1200 nits.
With an industry-leading IP68 rating, iPhone 12 Pro models can withstand water submersion up to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes and are safe against frequent spills, including coffee and soda.

The world’s best pro camera is an even more powerful tool with state-of-the-art camera hardware powered by the A14 Bionic for all levels of picture and video enthusiasts. A14 Bionic drives improved image quality along with the latest Image Signal Processor (ISP) and enables efficient computational photography capabilities not possible with conventional cameras.
The new Apple ProRAW, debuting later this year, which blends Apple’s multi-frame image processing and computational photography with the simplicity of a RAW format, also features iPhone 12 Pro versions. On the iPhone or with other professional photo editing software, users can experience complete artistic control over color, detail, and dynamic range.

The new seven-element Wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, the fastest ever on an iPhone, features the new seven-element Wide camera with a 27 percent enhanced low-light picture and video performance; the Ultra-Wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, ideal for capturing more scenes in tight spots or epic landscapes; and a 52 mm Telephoto camera focal length, great for framing portraits, carrying the optical zoom range up to 4X.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max takes the experience of the pro camera even further. In low-light settings, the latest f/1.6 aperture Wide camera boasts a 47 percent larger sensor with 1.7μm pixels for a whopping 87 percent boost. For improved versatility with closer shots and tighter crops, it also includes the expansive Ultra-Wide camera and a 65 mm focal length Telephoto camera. This device provides a maximum optical zoom range of 5x.
Night mode improvements, now extended to the TrueDepth and Ultra Wide cameras, allow an even brighter image. And when used with a tripod, Time-Lapse night mode offers longer exposure times for clearer images, better light trails, and smoother exposure in low-light scenarios. Deep Fusion, now better and quicker, hits all cameras, and users can expect more true-to-life images, even in complex scenes, with the new Smart HDR 3.
The iPhone 12 Pro models deliver the highest quality video on a smartphone and are the first cameras and only devices in the world to support Dolby Vision’s end-to-end HDR video experience, up to 60 fps, and even better cinema-grade video stabilization.
Whether in the Images app or iMovie, Dolby Vision grading is processed live and maintained during editing and will hit Final Cut Pro X, later this year. For incredible contrast during capture and video replay, Dolby Vision takes advantage of the Super Retina XDR monitor, and users can share their videos with external devices with support for AirPlay up to 4K Dolby Vision.
The Pro line comes with an all-new LiDAR Scanner, which provides the ability to measure light distance and use a scene’s pixel depth information. For more precision and reduced capture time in photos and videos, this technology offers quicker, more realistic AR experiences and enhances autofocus by 6x in low-light scenes. Combined with the power of A14 Bionic’s Neural Engine, this advanced hardware also unlocks night mode portraits, making a beautiful low-light bokeh effect.

Magical MagSafe
For a better, more effective experience, MagSafe enhances wireless charging and launches an ecosystem of easy-to-attach accessories that complement the iPhone 12 Pro models beautifully. With an array of magnets around the wireless charging coil, designed for alignment and performance, MagSafe offers a special iPhone experience that attaches seamlessly to the iPhone at all times.
MagSafe chargers provide up to 15W of power effectively while still accommodating current Qi-enabled devices. Charging options include the iPhone and Apple Watch MagSafe Charger and MagSafe Duo Charger, as well as new silicone, cloth, and transparent cases that can be conveniently added to the back of the iPhone, and a cloth wallet. Customers may also expect third-party vendors to provide creative MagSafe accessories.

Environmental Friendly iPhone
With the environment in mind, the iPhone 12 Pro models were designed. For the first time, iPhone 12 Pro models, including the new camera, Taptic Engine, and MagSafe, as well as Apple’s MagSafe accessories, can use 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets.
Apple is also eliminating from iPhone packaging the power adapter and EarPods, further lowering carbon emissions and preventing the mining and use of precious materials, allowing smaller and lighter packaging and allowing for the shipping of 70 percent more boxes on a pallet.
Taken together, these reforms would remove more than 2 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually, which is equal to the annual removal of almost 450,000 cars from the road.
