Recently, LG announced a partnership with Google company to bring its Stadia cloud gaming platform to LG’s latest webOS Smart TVs in the second half of this year. That means LG TV owners can play Stadia games on LG TV using a Stadia controller without additional hardware or game downloads. And the LG will be the first company to support Stadia cloud gaming via webOS.
LG also plans to provide a premium gaming experience by supporting 4K and 5.1 surround sound to Stadia Pro users. In the second half of 2021, LG plans to release a new service on LG Smart TVs as a downloadable app from the LG Content Store in countries where Stadia is open.
“With more being added daily, Stadia already offers more than 130 games. Games can be bought individually or players can demand a daily rate of free games with a Stadia Pro membership, which includes exclusive discounts and up to 4K resolution. Exhilarating gaming with immersive 5.1-channel surround sound and up to 4K HDR and 60 FPS support allow the Stadia platform a compelling option for those looking for a great gaming experience without the need for a costly, dedicated gaming experience.”
“Supporting Stadia on LG TVs is our commitment to customers that gaming is an increasingly important feature expected by LG TV owners,” said Lee Sang-woo, senior vice president of corporate business strategy at LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Stadia is changing how people access their favorite games and by providing webOS compatibility, we’re making an early commitment to the platform.”
